SIGN UP FOR YOUR AGE GROUP BY USAV DEFINITION AND THEN EMAIL US IF YOU WANT TO REQUEST TO PLAY UP! WE WILL DISCUSS IT WITH YOU AND THEN CHANGE IT IN THE SYSTEM.


COST:

$75 TRYOUT FEE (IF REGISTERED BY MAY 31st)

$85 TRYOUT FEE (IF REGISTERED BY JUNE 30th)

$95 TRYOUT FEE (IF REGISTERED JULY 1st OR AFTER)

CAN'T MAKE IT?

We highly encourage your attendance at regular tryouts so we can evaluate you against others in your age group, however, if you have a prior commitment or unavoidable scheduling conflict and want to be considered for a team in the first round of offers, register below for an INDIVIDUAL EVALUATION and we will follow up to find a time that works for you. Completing this tryout registration is required to be considered for any SC Elite team, even if scheduling an individual evaluation.

Understanding USAV Age Groups

Quick Tip: Determine your child's tryout age group

by looking at their age as of June 30, 2027.


USA Volleyball uses July 1st of the following year as the cutoff date for each age level. Your age on June 30, 2027 is the youngest age group you qualify to compete in. Age group eligibility is governed by USAV and the Palmetto Region (not SC Elite!) depending on a player's date of birth.


Players on the older side for their grade (born on or before June 30th) MUST play in the older age group, or their age as of June 20, 2027. The only exception to this is when the player is on a regional level team and does not play in any larger tournaments- sometimes in that case we can get a waiver from the Region.


A player in the normal age range for their grade and who has a birthday or after July 1st "plays their age," meaning that sometime ranging from July 1, 2026 and the end of the club season or June 30, 2027 club season they will turn the age of the team name and/or division in which they play.


A player who is on the younger side for their grade and who has a birthday on/after July 1st of the following year is able to choose whether to play with most players in their grade or with their USAV defined age group, which would mean playing with many athletes a grade lower than usual. This is a discussion to have with the club director as it can sometimes affect college recruiting in the older years.


At tryouts, our coaching staff identifies athletes with dual eligibility and works to place each player where they'll thrive. If you have a strong preference for one age group over another, just let us know.
