Kennedy Madison Pointer brings a winning pedigree, elite playing experience, and proven coaching success to SC Elite. A four-time All-CAA selection and 2018 AVCA All-American at the College of Charleston, Kennedy ranks among the program’s all-time leaders in kills, total points, and block assists. She recorded over 300 kills in three of her four collegiate seasons and sits ninth in school history with 1,412 career kills.
After her standout playing career, Kennedy transitioned seamlessly into coaching, spending three seasons (2022–2024) as an assistant coach for her alma mater. In that time, the Cougars captured the 2024 CAA Regular Season and Conference Championship, set a program record for blocks, posted one of the nation’s best defensive records, and advanced to the NCAA Tournament. Her work with the team’s defense helped libero Tynley Smeltzer earn back-to-back CAA Libero of the Year honors—becoming the first in program history to do so.
Prior to joining the College of Charleston staff, Kennedy taught in the Charleston County School District for two-and-a-half years, including serving on the volleyball coaching staff at Lucy Beckham High School. Her ability to connect with athletes at all levels, from high school to Division I, reflects her deep commitment to player development and competitive excellence.
Kennedy earned a B.A. in History and a B.S. in Secondary Education Cognate from the College of Charleston. She is married to former Charleston basketball standout Marquise Pointer, and together they have one son, Mikkel.
Kennedy’s blend of championship-level experience, teaching background, and passion for the game makes her a tremendous asset to SC Elite athletes—both on and off the court.
