experience

Originally from Columbus, Ohio, Adam El Hassan has spent the last 12 years calling Mount Pleasant home—and he’s been a driving force in growing the game of volleyball across the Lowcountry. A former outside hitter and team captain at Oceanside Collegiate Academy, Adam helped launch the school’s boys’ volleyball program and led them to a third-place finish at the Men’s Club State Championship.

While still in high school, Adam began coaching with local middle school and club teams and also assisted the women’s volleyball program at Oceanside. He continued his playing career on the College of Charleston men’s club volleyball team, while also helping establish the Bishop England boys’ volleyball program. There, he played a key role in the team’s first-ever state championship and supported the girls’ program as they earned their 29th state title.

Adam graduated from the College of Charleston in 2025, where he also served as Student Body President for two years, and is now entering his second year as Head Coach of the Lucy Beckham High School boys’ team. In his first season, he led the Bengals to their first 5A State Championship and was named Region 7-5A Coach of the Year.

During the 2024–25 club season, Adam brought his leadership and energy to SC Elite as head coach of a girls’ 14s team. Passionate about developing the next generation of athletes, he is known for fostering a competitive spirit, promoting team culture, and investing in long-term growth both on and off the court.

Outside of volleyball, Adam is completed a degree in Business Management with double minors in Healthcare and Medical Services Management and Leadership for Sustainability. He will also serve as a fellow at Meeting Street Academy for the 2025–26 school year. With a passion for leadership, innovation, and community impact, Adam is committed to creating meaningful change—whether in sports, education, or beyond.
