A native of The Woodlands, Texas, AJ began her collegiate career in the SEC at Mississippi State University before transferring to Baylor University, where she helped elevate the program to national prominence. In her first season at Baylor, the Bears earned the program’s first-ever No. 1 AVCA national ranking and were named the No. 1 overall seed in the NCAA Tournament. That historic year included a Big 12 Conference Championship and wins over Southern Cal, Purdue, and Washington en route to a Final Four appearance.
In her second season, Baylor reached the NCAA Regional Final against Nebraska, and in her third year, advanced to the NCAA Regionals to face Minnesota. AJ played her 5th year of eligibility at Dallas Baptist University, where she was First Team All-LSC, Lone Star Region Player of the Year, and was ultimately named an AVCA First Team All-American.
As a youth athlete, AJ played for Texas Tornados Volleyball Club, helping her 17s and 18s teams earn bronze medals at USAV Junior Nationals. At The Woodlands High School, she competed in one of the most competitive volleyball environments in the country and earned numerous accolades, including:
