experience
Brittany began her collegiate playing career at the University of Minnesota, one of the nation’s top volleyball programs. Over two seasons, she appeared in nine matches, including eight as a sophomore. She played in all three of the Gophers’ NCAA Tournament matches that year, with a standout performance in the first round against North Dakota, where she led the team with 13 kills. That same summer, she was one of just 35 student-athletes selected for USA Volleyball’s Collegiate National Team training program in Minneapolis — a testament to her talent and rising potential at the national level.
She transferred to the University of South Carolina ahead of the 2018 season, quickly making an impact. During her time with the Gamecocks, Brittany helped lead the team to back-to-back NCAA Tournament appearances in 2018 and 2019 — the program’s first since 2001–02. She played in 58 matches across two seasons, totaling 484 kills, 122 digs, and 65 blocks, while graduating cum laude with a degree in journalism and mass communication. She later earned her MBA from Stetson University, where she continued her playing career on the beach volleyball team.
Brittany launched her coaching career at Spartanburg Methodist College, where she served as head coach for both indoor and beach volleyball. In her first season as head coach, she guided the indoor program to a 21-12 record, a region championship, and a Southeast District runner-up finish. She was named Region Coach of the Year, and four of her players earned All-Region honors under her leadership.
In 2023, she returned to Columbia as Assistant Coach and Recruiting Coordinator for South Carolina. Former Head Coach Tom Mendoza, now the Head Coach at Marquette, praised her balance of drive and empathy, saying:
“Brittany has been successful at every level — first as a player and now as a coach. She brings a great mix of competitiveness and compassion, and I’m thrilled for her to help our student-athletes reach their potential.”
Her coaching style reflects her own background as a decorated prep athlete. At Rosemount High School in Minnesota, Brittany was a 2015 Ms. Baden Award winner, given to the top senior volleyball player in the state by the Minnesota Volleyball Coaches Association. She was named an AVCA Under Armour First Team All-American, ranked No. 44 in the PrepVolleyball Senior Aces Top 100, and set school records for career kills (1,535) and aces (132). On the club circuit, she starred for Northern Lights, earning AAU All-American honors in both 2013 and 2014.
At every stage of her journey, Brittany has been recognized not only for her competitive edge but for her ability to build strong, meaningful connections with her athletes. She brings those same values to SC Elite, where she is dedicated to helping young players grow both on and off the court through mentorship, discipline, and love for the game.
Brittany is married to former Gamecock football player Chandler Farrell, and they recently moved to Summerville where Brittany enters her first season as the Varsity Volleyball Head Coach at Ashley Ridge.
